Wish You Were Here 50 [2025; 1975]

Wish You Were Here almost seems quaint compared to The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, the pair of acknowledged Pink Floyd classics from the 1970s. Roger Waters isn’t grappling with the purpose of life, he’s content with pondering the meaning of rock stardom. The smaller scale is evident in the execution, too: at its heart, the album is the sound of four musicians conjuring infinite space within the confines of small spaces.

Not coincidentally, Wish You Were Here is the last time Pink Floyd functioned quite so well as a band. Things started to crack during the making of Animals, the 1977 album that was workshopped on the supporting tour for Wish You Were Here.
