Quick Takes: Dry Cleaning, The Cribs, Vince Gill
Plus new singles by Peter Gabriel, Bruno Mars, and Father John Misty.
Say this for the new releases at the beginning of a new year: the calendar may be uncluttered, but new music does indeed exist, unlike the waning weeks of December. There still aren’t that many albums, though. This week, I’ve spotlighted three that caught my attention, adding three singles for good measure.
I’m also looking for a catchier title for this regular review roundup than Quick Takes. Suggestions are welcome.
ALBUM OF THE WEEK:
Dry Cleaning—Secret Love [2026]
★★★★
Consider Secret Love, the third album from British post-punk revivalists Dry Cleaning, as something of a modern art-rock summit. They’ve enlisted Cate Le Bon as their producer, bringing aboard a kindred spirit who enhances their essential oddness. Secret Love proceeds at an insouciant, almost languid pace, its steady crawl allowing the stray shards of guitar to scar.
